Oppo and Meizu has adaptet MediaTek’s Helio P60 mobile SoC, for their upcoming smartphone models. The news comming from Taiwan’s TechNews via digitimes
Oppo will introduce its R15 series that will come in two versions – one powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 SoC and the other by MediaTek’s Helio P60, later in March, the report said. The model will feature a 6.28-inch AMOLED display, and a dual camera setup on the back.
Meizu is scheduled to unveil its new E3 series smartphones on March 21, the report noted. The upcoming device will also come with MediaTek’s Helio P60 SoC, and feature a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 display and a dual camera setup on the back.
Xiaomi is also likely to join Oppo and Meizu using MediaTek’s AI-enabled Helio P60 solution in its new model, the report indicated.
The MediaTek Helio P60 features four Arm Cortex-A73 2.0 GHz processors and four Arm Cortex-A53 2.0 GHz processors in an octa-core big.LITTLE configuration. The company has claimed its Arm Cortex A73 and A53 processor mix delivers up to a 70% CPU performance boost over the Helio P23 and Helio P30, in addition to a 70% GPU performance enhancement.
MediaTek’s Helio P60 SoC was also designed to bring artificial intelligence capabilities to mid-range smartphones. Following the chip announcement, rival Qualcomm and HiSilicon have also introduced their AI-enabled solutions for the mid-range market segment.
MediaTek is scheduled to enter mass shipments of its Helio P60 series starting April, TL Lee, head of MediaTek’s wireless communication product business unit, disclosed earlier.
